Sit By Me grew from my experience of watching children become friends across the cultural, religious, racial, and social barriers that we so often establish as adults.

I have watched children from very different families, cultures, and faith traditions sit beside one another and simply become friends. They talk. They play. They laugh. They ask questions. They discover what they have in common and become curious about the things that make them different.

They remind me that community doesn't require us to become the same.
